Nidasii Beauty Concierge: Day 7 & 8

Day 7 & 8:

Hey Beauties time sure is flying and we can't believe it's the seventh day of our Beauty Concierge service. I guess the old saying is true..."time fly's when your having fun". Today we serviced our Beauties in the neighborhoods of Williamsburg and Fort Greene in Brooklyn. Then we headed over to Manhattan where we serviced our Beauties in Harlem, Midtown & the Lower East Side. Only two days left and then it's all over until next year.

Day 8:

Day 8 of the Beauty Concierge was bonkers!! Today we were flooded with requests. I think today everyone realized they now have less than a week left to complete their shopping  before Christmas. We literally serviced our Beauties in what seemed like every neighborhood in Brooklyn. It feels great knowing we can take the pressure off our Beauties and put their minds at ease. That's exactly why we came up with the idea for the Beauty Concierge. When you don't have the time to go out and shop or wait for an order you placed at the last minute to arrive we're here to fill that void.

Beauties are you ready for the holidays?

Nidasii Beauty Concierge: Day 6....It's Snowing!!

Day 6:

Hey Beauties! It's day 6 of the Beauty Concierge and it's snowing...again! This morning I awoke to find at least an inch of snow on the ground. This is the second time in three days we've been hit with snow. But, no worries for our Beauty Concierge members because despite the predicted three to five inches of snow we were out and about making scheduled deliveries to our Beauties!

Were you out frolicking in the snow?

Nidasii Beauty Concierge: Day 4...But Beyonce Just Dropped A Game Changing Body Of Work

Beauties, wouldn't you know last night, no more than an hour after trying to come down from my Scandal high my phone began to flash non stop with alerts coming in from twitter & instagram. To my surprise, when I picked up my phone I saw all the alerts were about Beyonce....and she did WHAT? She released a WHAT?.....a visual album with 14 songs and 17 videos. Wait a minute, what time is it?....12:37AM? That's a total of 31 cuts/songs/videos on one body of work! But, wait how can I forget about the best part. She did all of this with out any promotion or advance notification. She just put it out and "let it do what it do".

Some may say this is an example of Beyonce "leading by example", but, I say she's" motivating by example". That's all we talked about in the studio today and judging the from discussions we had today she has motivated the Beauties I work with to be more conscious of thinking outside of the box and pushing through on their goals & aspirations.

Have you seen or heard Beyonce's latest visual album? Be sure to share your thoughts with us!

Nidasii Beauty Concierge: Day 2 & 3...Today Was A Good Day!

DAY 2:
Hey Beauties! How many of you in the NYC area awoke yesterday expecting to find at least four to six inches of snow on the ground? Only to look out your window and find snow falling with a  light dusting of snow. Just enough to coat the cars. As usual NYC meteorologist's were a bit over zealous in their weather predictions for the city. But, I can't say I was upset by what I saw. I made a promise to myself the night before that I was not going to let the snow interrupt our Beauty Concierge Services. Even if I had to make each and every single delivery myself!....OK I have to admit I really hoped it would not get to that point, but, if it did I certainly was prepared to follow through on my promise.  After all, concierge service is about providing a service that goes above and beyond. Although  our day may have started off a little wet & slippery, we made it to each one of our Beauties on time...no weather delays here!

DAY 3:
The funniest thing happened today. One of the Beauties we delivered to today sent an email stating an item was accidentally packed with her order. She was kind enough to provide her number so I gave her a call. She explained she found a pink box with her items and I explained to her, that wasn't an accident. That's our special gift to you. We place one in every Beauty Concierge order. And you know what she said...."I'm Impressed....I'm loving your service!". That made my day.... in the words of Ice Cube...Today was a good day!

Nidasii Beauty Concierge: Day 1

Hey Beauties! Today was the first day of our, now, annual Holiday Beauty Concierge service. Time really does fly because I can't believe this is the third year of the Beauty Concierge. If your an Exclusive Beauty Member you already know this year our concierge services are now available in Brooklyn! The last two years our services were only available in Manhattan, however,  last year many of our Brooklyn Beauties sent us DM's and emails requesting Beauty Concierge services in Brooklyn so we of course had to expand our services.....and you know what? Today most of our concierge deliveries were in Brooklyn! Talk about showing up and showing out!! Can't wait to do it all again tomorrow!

Beauties We Need Your Help!

Day 1 of our Holiday Beauty Concierge went  soooo well I had the idea to either chronicle each day from now until 12/23/13, the last day of our concierge service, in a vlog or blog....what do you think?

Nidasii Beauty: Apple Cider Vinegar DIY For Curlista's

Beauties for the past few two months I've been suffering from really dry hair and it took a while for me to finally figure out why. I immediately blamed it on the recent change in temperature. Here in NYC the weather became cold and dry rather quickly this year....at least it did to me.  I couldn't figure out why this was happening. Then it dawned on me. I spent the entire summer in wash in go styles. As most of you may know I'm a Curlista and I have a kinky curly hair texture. During summer months I always gravitate towards wash and go styles. I just wet it in the shower apply moisturizer and either let it air dry or I let it semi dry then let take all my curls and brush them up into a messy yet chic top bun. Like most women I don't have a lot of time to fuss over my hair so I always go with simple routines that don't require much time and attention. Unfortunately I neglected to ensure my hairs PH.

When I finally figured it out I realized that my hairs PH balance was totally out of whack and I needed to restore the balance. So I went back to my tried and true DIY solution of apple cider vinegar and water. This is a common DIY remedy that many of you may be familiar with. It's most often used or noted as a natural hair clarifying cleanser that does not strip hair of moisture, however, many curlistas use it to cleanse and restore PH balance to their hair. Unfortunately, many of us curlistas suffer from dry and frizzy hair because our  curly hair pattern often prevents our hair's natural oils from traveling down the entire length of our hair to the ends. As a result this can create dry brittle hair.

If some of you are wondering why PH balance is so important for Curlistas here's why. Beware this is were I get Geeky as I give a step by step break down of PH. For starters the acronym PH stands for Potential of Hydrogen and it measures how acidic or alkali a substance is. PH has a range of 0 to 14. Any substance that falls into the range of 0 to 6.9 is acidic and anything that falls in the range of 7.1 to 14 is alkali. If a substance has a PH of 7 that means it's neutral.

Now here's why knowing proper PH is essential for curlistas. If you had to take a guess which environment would you think is ideal for curly hair...acidic or alkali? If you chose alkali your wrong! Curly hair needs an acidic environment. Did you know that sebum, the oil produced by our scalp and skin, is acidic? Sebum like our Nidasii products is a multipurpose substance. Not only does it lubricate our hair shafts with oil, that same oil due to its acidic nature prevents bacteria and fungus from finding a warm and cozy home in our hair.

The ideal PH range for most curlistas is 4.5 to 5.5. That's also the range for sebum. When a curlistas hair is at it's proper PH balance it seals the hairs cuticle allowing it to retain its moisture. When hair is alkali its dry, dull and maybe even brittle because the cuticle is open. So, although we apply moisturizers to our hair if its in an alkali state it won't retain much moisture. The appearance of hair that is PH balanced looks very different from hair that's not. The best way I can describe the appearance of  curly hair that's PH balanced is that it appears to be smoother with better defined curls. Where as curly hair in an alkali state appears to be frizzy with less defined curls when dried.

So needless to say after I washed my hair with the apple cider vinegar and water solution my hair immediately felt much softer and smoother. It was like it breathed a sigh of relief after taking a long sip of water. If your hair seems to be dry and dull try cleansing with apple cider vinegar and water. I like to use a 1/2 cup apple cider vinegar to 1 cup of water.

Have you ever tried cleansing your hair with an apple cider vinegar and water solution? How was your experience?

Yummers: Guiltles Oatmeal Raisin Cookies

Hey Beauties you know I'm a serious foodie, I absolutely love and adore all things food, but I try to keep it healthy.... at least I try to most of the time. I came across this recipe for oatmeal cookies that requires no sugar, flour or butter and I loved it!! So you know I had to share it with you. These cookies are really great as a sort of breakfast cereal for mornings when your in a rush. But truthfully I literally eat them all day long. This recipe makes a dozen cookies, however, I literally ate half of the cookies in the pic above as soon as they cooled down enough to eat without burning my mouth. Here are the four ingredients needed to get started.

2 Ripe Bananas
1 Cup Oatmeal
1/2 Cup Raisins (or to your liking)
Cinnamon (to your liking)

In a mixing bowl mash bananas then add oatmeal, raisins and cinnamon. Mix until it forms a soft doughy consistency. Next spoon individual cookies onto a cookie sheet and bake at 350 degrees for about 15 minutes. Since ovens vary I would check on them after 10 minutes and determine how much longer they will need.

If you decide to give this recipe a try let us know what you think!

Are You Drinking Your Fruits & Veggies?

Beauties all summer long I have been drinking my fruits and veggies! Now if your wondering just how one can drink their fruits and veggies it's simple...blend them of course. This summer I really focused on beautifying myself from the inside out by eating raw foods 80% of the time. That became a super easy task once the mid July heat wave set in. In the mornings I drank my green juice concoctions which always contains kale and an assortment of fruits and vegetables that I have on hand.... OOPS! How could I almost forget that I also use coconut water in all of my green juices. It wouldn't be complete with out it!

Now that were moving into fall I'm going to continue to make my green juice and try to include some seasonal fruits and veggies like apples, cranberries and maybe even a bit of roasted sweet potatoe (I let will let you know how that goes...not sure how that will turn out just yet). Until I started juicing on a daily basis I never realized how deprived my body was of essential vitamins and minerals.

Beauties will you continue to juice with us? If you do let us know what blends of fruits and veggies you use!

It's That Time of Year Again

Beauties it's that time of year again. Labor Day has come and gone and now everyone is in back to school and work mode. Although, the summer weather has not totally left us yet...thank goodness our mindset surely does change.  Every year after Labor Day things in the city become less leisurely and  returns to its usual non stop pace. That surely has been the case for us here at Nidasii. It's now three days after Labor day and can I tell you our schedules are jam packed with events and product launch meetings. Although I  hate to see summer go, I'm always happy to kick off the new season with our New York Fashion Week sponsorships. This is the time of year when the beauty and fashion worlds collide and we love it!

Not to mention we have several products launching this season starting with our Sweet Elixir Hair Oil and new website! Stay tuned for details.

Are You Ready For A Beauty Cocktail?

Beauties do you like cocktails? If you do we're sure your going to love this one. We love cocktails especially when they're Beauty Cocktails. In addition to taking care of skin on the outside we believe its especially important to take care of it from the inside. This beauty cocktail of coconut water, lemon juice & seltzer water will hydrate all the way down to the cellular level. Here are a few properties that make lemon & coconut water are ideal for skin and body.

Benefits of Coconut Water
  1. Anti Aging - Contains anti-thrombotic and anti-carcinogenic properties that significantly reduces the aging of skin
  2.  Digestion - Contains enzymes such as folic acid, diastase, phosphate, catalase and RNA polymerases that aid in digestion and metabolism
  3.  Dehydration - Due to its electrolyte balance and plasma content coconut water closely resembles human blood making it ideal for treating dehydration
  4.  Strong Bones - Contains high levels of calcium
  5.  Muscle Cramps - Due to its high levels of potassium it significantly reduces muscle cramps
  6. Increases Metabolic Rate - Consuming coconut water regularly increases the metabolic rate which causes insulin to burn faster in the body thus increasing its metabolic rate. Increased metabolic rate means the body burns sugar faster causing a person to have increased energy and fat loss
Benefits of Lemon

  1. Oily Skin - Applying lemon juice to a cotton pad and gently wiping the face at bed time then washing in the morning has been known to reduce appearance of oily skin
  2. Treatment of Acne - The anti-fungal & anti-microbial properties make it ideal for treating acne
  3. Strengthen Nails - The combination of olive oil & lemon juice has been known to strengthen nails when massaged into the nail

NYC Summer Heat Wave

Hey Beauties! If your on the east coast like me your most likely caught up in this heat wave that feels like it's been sitting over us for days. I have a huge tolerance for heat, but, this year it seems to be draining all the energy out of me. I feel like my energy level has gone from 10 to 2. But, thank goodness for lemon water myself and the Nidasii girls have been surviving the heat by drinking tons of it. Lemon water is a great way to stay hydrated especially if your spending time out in the sun I feel its essential because the vitamin C found in lemon helps to fight free radicals caused by exposure of the UVA & UVB rays from the sun. Here are a few more reasons why drinking lemon water is great for you.

  1. Aids in digestion
  2. Fights Free Radicals
  3. Promotes healing of bones, cartilage & connective tissue when wounded or damaged
How are you staying hydrated?

Beauty of Coconut Oil for Summer

-->

Hey Beauties tomorrow, June 21, 2013, is the first official day of summer and that got me to thinking about my number one favorite summer ingredient, coconut oil. The scent alone makes me think all things summer, especially days at the beach! Although its been well documented that if stranded on a desert island with only one beauty product it would my EVOO (Extra Virgin Olive Oil). However, when summer, my favorite season arrives, I like to switch things up a bit and incorporate coconut oil into my beauty regimen. Here’s how.

SKIN: During summer I like to use Extra Virgin Coconut Oil as my moisturizer from head to toe. I especially love the way its natural fragrance incorporates with my body chemistry giving off a refreshingly sweet aroma. Not only does this amazing oil have the ability to absorb deep into skins surface. It also has the ability to naturally prevent burning from the sun. So using it as a moisturizer before applying sunscreen will actually give your skin extra protection against sun burn.

HAIR: Coconut oil has the ability to provide hair with moisture and shine. Not to mention it’s the number one ingredient most naturalistas and curlistas incorporate into their hair care regimen. I love to use it on my hair during summer for the fragrance. Of course it provides my hair with shine and moisture, however, I like to use a blend of EVCO (Extra Virgin Coconut Oil) and grape seed or almond oil to moisturize my scalp and ends.

How do you incorporate EVCO into your beauty regimen?

Brown Sugar Beauty

Hey Beauties I'm sooo happy now that summer temps have finally arrived! In fact I'm sooo overjoyed that it has inspired me to write about one of my favorite summer ingredients, Brown Sugar. I use brown sugar more than a few times a week during summer. I especially love exfoliating with it at the end of a long hazy, hot & humid summer day. I love the way it easily removes all product build up on skin while exfoliating the skin to reveal the most amazing GLOW! If there's one thing that I love to do during this time of the year is glow. Nothing beats a radiant summer glow. Here are a few more reasons why I love brown sugar.

  1.  Brown sugar is a natural humectant which means it naturally draws moisture to skin
  2. It's also a natural source of glycolic acid which is an AHA (Alpha Hydroxy Acid) that naturally breaks the bond of skin cells encouraging cell turn over
  3. Brown sugar is also a naturally gentle exfoliant that can be used several times per week without being too abrasive to the skins surface

Beauties, is brown sugar one of your favorite natural beauty ingredients?

Shamelessly Addicted to Technology

Hey Beauties…It’s me again back with our latest blog post. Now I have to tell you over the years I have totally turned into a tech geek! At this point I don’t think there’s any part of my life that does not involve technology. Dare I say I may be a bit addicted to technology??? As many of you  may know I am a lost soul without my iphone! Just last month while shopping for pieces for our new location I accidentally left  my phone home. By the time I realized I forgot it home I decided I was too far to turn back and figured I could make it through an afternoon of shopping without it…..WRONG!! I was totally lost without it. I couldn’t take pictures, I had questions and I couldn’t text anyone on our team for answers. Needless to say I was totally frustrated and disgusted. However,  I was able to select items and pick up the essentials we needed for our new space although I was not nearly as efficient as I would have been if I had my phone. Then to top everything off, now I’m standing on a long line without any apps to help me pass the time away!! ……Oh what  in the world did I do before technology became such an integral part of my life?

Beauties are any of you out there as obsessed with technology as I am? If you are leave a comment and let us know what you think!

Would you like to see more blog posts & videos  on how we use technology & apps on a daily basis? If you do please leave your comments below.

Have a beautiful week Beauties!

Hot oil Beauty Re-mix

-->
Hey Beauties,

It’s been FREEEEEZING in NYC this week. All week long I’ve been awaking to temps of 10 and 7 degrees! Those temps don't exactly make a girl want to jump out of bed in the morning. So needless to say I’ve been blasting the heat all week drying out my skin. This weekend I decided to give my skin the treat it needs. A hot oil treatment! Yes, you read it correctly, I gave my skin a hot oil treatment. Who says hot oil treatments are only for hair. In fact, I actually re-mixed this Beauty DIY with one of our products. Here’s how you can benefit from this special treatment.

As always my moisturizing process begins after a shower on moist skin.  It’s truly the best way to deeply moisturize because it penetrates beneath the skins surface and this is how you maintain all day moisture.

Before you go into the shower take your favorite oil ( this weekend I used a blend of  coconut oil and avocado oil) and place it into a heat safe container. Next, place the heat safe container into a hot water bath to allow the oil to warm. I usually take the oil in the hot water bath into the bathroom with me and have it heat up while I’m in the shower. After the shower I slightly blot my skin  making sure  to leave it moist.

Now, here’s where the fun begins. I would normally apply the hot oil treatment to my damp skin. But, this is how I re-mixed this beauty DIY. I first applied the hot oil treatment to my skin. Oh  my goodness!!  It  feels and smells amazing. After I applied the hot oil treatment I massaged our Cocoa Commotion Body Butter into my skin to provide an additional layer of moisture to my dry skin, as well as seal in moisture. My skin literally drinks in the moisture and I have luminous, glowing skin.

Want to give this Beauty DIY a try? Here’s what you will need.
·      Your favorite oil or blend of oils
·      Heat safe container
·      Hot water bath

If you give this beauty DIY a try stop by and let us know how it worked for you.
