My Recent Addiction
This weekend a friend of mine bought me a slice of my most recent addiction……Red Velvet Cake. For the past two years I have been addicted to this delightful cake from a bakery in Brooklyn. Oddly enough I am not a big fan of cake. I think I have been traumatized by those dry birthday cakes with the pineapple or Strawberry filling in the center that seemed to appear at every birthday party I went to as a child. In fact, for the past ten years, on my birthday, my family has given me cheese cake. Yes, I am 32 and my mother still insists on giving me a cake for my birthday. She does this for each of her four children.
This yummy cake must invoke inspiration. Not only has it inspired me to create a new product it also seemed to be the inspiration for a sneaker in the Pastry line of sneakers, created by Angela and Vanessa Simmons. Stay tuned to Nidasii Lab for updates on the formulation of this product.
Sylvias Family Soul Food Cook Book has a great red velvet cake recipe.

Movies in Harlem
This weekend I went to see the movie American Gangster featuring Denzel Washington and Russell Crowe.I had to post about this movie because the movie takes place in Harlem, my favorite neighborhood. The movie also features one of my favorite hip-hop artists Common as well as T.I. and Rza who also did a great job.
Although this movie is about a notorious gangster, Frank Lucas, I must admit that I was intrigued by the power this man possed. It makes you wonder, how it is that a man intelligent enough to run a drug ring that grossed a million dollars a day, could not take the same model and apply it to a legitimate business or businesses.
What’s your take on this?

Acia....The New Super Food
I truly believe beauty is reflected from the inside out. Think about it. If your feeling sick, maybe suffering from a cold, you may not look you’re your best on the outside. The same is true regarding the foods we eat. Constantly consuming greasy foods will reveal a dull complexion. This is why I try to eat foods that are rich in nutrients and vitamins. Lately I’ve been hearing a lot about the health benefits of acai berries. This berry seemed to pop onto the shelves of American markets out of nowhere. So I decided to conduct some investigative research of my own.
Acia berries, pronounced ah-sigh-ee, are indigenous to Brazils Amazon rain forest. This berry is considered one of the top super foods because it is loaded with antioxidants, anthocyanins, amino acids, essential omegas, fiber and protein. It has even been coined one of nature’s most complete foods.
